The 24-year-old Bafana Bafana midfielder has been excellent for the Buccaneers since his switch from Polokwane City this season.
He has been one of the club’s standout players as they bid to end Mamelodi Sundowns’ near decade of dominance of the South Africa top-flight and win their first league title since the 2012 season.
Bucs are currently top of the league standings with 58 points from 25 games – just two clear of the Brazilians, who have two games in hand.
Next up is a crucial encounter with Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the game, Appollis explained that he is not concerned with individual honours, with a league title to be won.
“At the moment our focus is to win games as a group and share the ball as many as we can,” Appollis said on IOL.
“That’s what the group has been doing – whoever is scoring we always there to assist him and that’s what I am doing.
“The Player of the Season is not on my mind at the moment. My job is to score goals and help the team win.”
Appollis has already helped Bucs lift the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup this season.
He currently has 11 goals and nine assists in 38 matches in all competitions.
“Obviously, everyone wants to win the league, but we are going to take it one game at a time. Whatever happens at the end of the season, happens,” he said.
