The Eliteserien continues to provide major headaches with some unexpected results happening again in gameweek 15. And while most of my banker bets arrived this past weekend, I was quite surprised to see a few others fail to materialise. Anyway, let’s move on to this week’s action. The pick of the gameweek sees Molde take on Aalesunds. Only two points separate the duo so there will be a lot on the line when they clash at the Color Line Stadion this Saturday.
Saturday 8 July
2/9 Rosenborg | Draw 5/1 | Sandefjord 19/2 (15:30)
The first of Saturday’s doubleheader sees league-leaders Rosenborg host 12-placed Sandefjord. The visitors fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stabaek last weekend and have subsequently dropped into the bottom third of the table. Rosenborg also didn’t have it all their own way this past gameweek as they were involved in a 3-3 draw with Kristiansund. Rosenborg were my banker last week and I’m on them again. They may not offer much value for the straight win at 2/9, but they are a great multiple booster.
14/10 Aalesunds | 24/10 | Molde 33/20 (18:00)
We round Saturday’s limited action off with arguably the pick of the gameweek. As I mentioned in the introduction, only two points separate Aalesunds and Molde. The visitors have been in decent touch of late, only suffering defeat in one of their past five matches, while the hosts have lost two of their last three. Aalesunds were a massive let down in gameweek 15 as they went down 1-0 to unfancied Sogndal. And while I do expect a much-improved performance from them, I still think they will struggle to overcome a Molde side who seem to possess more quality than their opponents. As such, I’m going to get on the Double Chance – Molde/Draw – at 11/20!
Sunday 9 July
19/20 Viking | 47/20 | Sogndal 28/10 (18:00)
Next up, it’s struggling Viking versus Sogndal. The hosts come into this one off the back of an extremely entertaining 3-2 loss to Molde, while the visitors make the trip off the back of a 1-0 victory over Aalesunds. This game has me rather worried, as Viking, despite losing three of their last five fixtures, have looked a lot better in recent weeks while Sogndal are a side that have really flattered to deceive. As such, I’m going to avoid the straight win market and tip the Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – market at 17/20 as both teams have struggled defensively.
6/10 Stromgodset | 28/10 | Kristiansund 4/1 (18:00)
Stromgodset will be looking to claw their way out of relegation mire when they take on fellow strugglers Kristiansund. The hosts have failed to produce a win in four weeks, drawing twice and losing twice. Kristiansund have also produced a patchy run of results, although they have managed to pick up five points from their last three fixtures. I’m going to go with the away side here. Both teams are struggling at the moment but Kristiansund will be on a bit of a high after drawing with the league leaders on Monday evening. At 4/1, the away win represents terrific value!
7/4 Stabaek | 24/10 | Brann 27/20 (20:00)
Sunday’s penultimate fixture will see ninth-place Stabaek take on second-placed Brann. The two sides experienced contrasting fortunes last week with Stabaek getting a much-needed win and Brann being held to a goalless draw by Vaerenga. I really do fancy Brann for the win here. They will be eager to bounce back from last week’s disappointment in a bid to stay in touch with league-leaders, Rosenborg. At 27/20, Brann are certainly worth a punt.
1/1 Vaerenga | 23/10 | Haugesund 26/10 (20:00)
On to Sunday’s final fixture now as sixth-placed Vaerenga host seventh-placed Haugesund. The hosts managed to extend their unbeaten run this past gameweek while the visitors will have been left disappointed as they were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Viking. This should be a rather tight affair but my money is on the hosts just edging it.
Monday 10 July
8/10 Sarpsborg | 26/10 | Lillestrom 3/1 (19:00)
Our final fixture of the gameweek pits Sarpsborg up against Lillestrom. The visitors are on a decent run of form and have only lost one of their last five fixtures. Sarpsborg, on the other hand, have only won one of their last five. Despite their recent inability to win a game, I’m going to back Sarpsborg to come good here. They’re solid at home and I think Lillestrom will be rather fatigued from their recent exploits.
TREBLE @ 13/1
Rosenborg Win 2/9
Kristiansund Win 4/1
Brann Win 27/20
