Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says that former interim first team coach Patrick Mabedi

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says that former interim first team coach Patrick Mabedi will resume his role as assistant now that Giovanni Solinas’ work permit has come through.

Solinas was granted his permit on Tuesday and the Italian is now eligible to take charge as head coach for Amakhosi’s first Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

In addition, Motaung added that Mabedi would continue to be in control of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge side for 2018/19.

Last season the retired defender led the MDC outfit as they won the inaugural Diski Shield competition.

Speaking to Kickoff, he said: “Arthur is still with the MDC team, we’ve not changed much in the technical setup.

“Only the coach came in now, and he’ll be working with Mabedi.

“He’s been part of the structure even last season with Steve, and he did well when Steve left, even now with the pre-season preparations.

“The relationship between him and the coach (Solinas) now is very cordial, so we don’t have a problem with that.”
