Morocco head coach Walid Regragui believes that South Africa have enough quality to win the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
While the Atlas Lions were drawn in Group F alongside the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia and Tanzania, Bafana will face Tunisia, Mali and Namibia.
The last time South Africa played Morocco, during the AFCON qualifiers, Bafana won the game 2-1.
Following his side’s draw, Regragui said on iDiski Times: “In the African Cup, you have every team that can win the African Cup, also South Africa, when I travelled there I lost [to Bafana Bafana], now you don’t have easy games anymore.”
Regragui added: “For the Morocco team, Inshallah, we’ll try to do our best [to win the competition] the same like the World Cup, I think many teams are outsiders to win [the AFCON].”
Morocco, who are ranked number one in Africa, impressed in the recent 2022 World Cup, where they made it to the semi-finals.
