After days of uncertainty, Orlando Pirates have officially confirmed the transfer of Abbubaker Mobara from Ajax Cape Town.
The 22-year-old utility defender joins the Soweto giants on a three-year contract after impressing for the Urban Warriors and Amaglug-glug since graduating from the esteemed Ikamva academy.
The Buccaneers’ move for the highly-rated South Africa international was put into doubt when he claimed he was keen on a move to Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, the announcement from Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has quashed the reports surfacing in local media.
“I am pleased to welcome Abbubaker Mobara to the club. Contractual negotiations went ahead quickly and smoothly between the club and the player’s representatives,” Khoza told the club’s official webiste.
“We would like to particularly thank Rob Moore for the professional approach he displayed on this matter.”
Since making his league debut in 2014, Mobara has featured 72 times for Ajax, scoring two goals and registering three assists.
