Mngqithi’s Word of Warning to Tinkler

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has issued a warning to Cape Town City ahead of their MTN8 quarter-final clash against Sekhukhune United.

The Sundowns mentor believes that City will face a tough test against the newly appointed Babina Noko coach, Peter Hyballa. Mngqithi has previous experience facing Hyballa, having encountered his team in the Netherlands last year.

Impressed by the German coach’s style of play, Mngqithi believes the former Bayer 04 Leverkusen assistant manager will bring a new level of competitiveness to the Betway Premiership. Speaking at the MTN8 launch, Mngqithi said,

Maybe just to warn Eric on the other side, we’ve played against Sekhukhune and we played against the same coach in Netherlands last year,”

He added, “Against NEC Breda, but his teams play very good football. And I’m impressed that he’s also joining us here because I think it will add a bit of spice in our league we really want competitive and very tactical games which I think he will also add to his game.”

Hyballa, recently appointed to replace Lehlohonolo Seema, has a reputation for attractive football, according to Mngqithi. The Sundowns coach expects a challenging match for Cape Town City, highlighting Hyballa’s ability to implement tactical and competitive football.

The MTN8 quarter-final between Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
