Kaizer Chiefs defeated Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League leaders Scottland FC 1-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday to lift the 2026 Toyota Cup.
Mfundo Vilakazi scored the only goal of the game after 15 minutes to hand Amakhosi a morale-boosting victory ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership season.
Fernando Da Cruz’s side recently returned from a pre-season trip to Spain, where they drew two and lost one of their matches, against Rangers, Al Kholood and Elche.
Amakhosi started well against the current ZPL champions, with a Vilakazi free-kick picking out Lebohang Maboe, but the visitors’ defence cleared his effort.
But Chiefs were soon ahead when Vilakazi reacted well to poke home when a long ball from Inacio Miguel was only half cleared.
And Vilakazi was close to a second goal with a shot from range, but goalkeeper Talbert Shumba was equal to the effort.

A dipping, curling free-kick delivery by Anderson de Campos towards the end of the first half sailed narrowly wide of the goal with Brandon Petersen beaten.
There was a blow to Chiefs towards the end of the opening half when an injured Bradley Cross had to be substituted, with Given Msimango brought on to replace him.
Scottland rang the changes at the break, with an entirely new starting eleven brought on, including former Amakhosi legends Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
Chiefs, though, were the more likely scorers in the second period and Etiosa Ighodaro should have powered home his header from a Reeve Frosler delivery.
Wandile Duba also came close to a second goal late on, but he fired well over the goal with time and space to pick his shot.
Musona, meanwhile, smashed his late free-kick just over the target as Chiefs ended the afternoon with their first trophy of the new season.
