With woeful away form weighing United down in the Premier League, in which they have won just once on the road this season after seven attempts, United legend Solskjaer’s credentials have been repeatedly called into question.

A two month-spell from mid-September saw his side pick up just one league victory, but the slump has been halted of late and his players are still firmly on side, according to Scotland international McTominay.

“I don’t read too much into what gets said online or in the press or different things like that,” said the 22-year-old, referring to whisperings of an exit for the Norwegian. “Obviously it’s our duty as players to go out there and do our utmost best for him and hopefully we can (put on performances for him) because we love him. We love him as a group as well.”

United are unbeaten in four Premier League outings, with victories over Brighton and Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.

With Saturday’s Manchester derby fast approaching, McTominay is looking forward to a contest, whose focus is on “putting in a real performance” as his side look to further stall City’s pursuit of league leaders Liverpool.

“We take it a game at a time,” added the youngster, who returned to action against Tottenham after a three-game spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury. “Hopefully we can keep pushing forwards after that as well.”

United will be looking to the on-fire Marcus Rashford in their bid for bragging rights. Punters may want to put their on the 22-year-old revelation as the youngster is on phenomenal form with twelve goals in his last thirteen games for club and country.
