Manchester United has officially announced the departure of former interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. This decision follows the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach.
Van Nistelrooy, who returned to the club in the summer as a coach under Erik ten Hag, took over as interim manager after Ten Hag’s dismissal in October.
During his brief tenure, he led the team to four matches, securing victories against Leicester City in both the Carabao Cup and Premier League, as well as a UEFA Europa League win over PAOK and a draw with Chelsea.
Along with van Nistelrooy, coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel have also left the club. Amorim was announced as Ten Hag’s successor on November 1. His first match in charge of the Old Trafford club will be an away game to Ipswich Town on November 24.
“Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend,” a club statement read. “We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.
“Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.
“We will confirm the full men’s first team coaching composition in due course.”
