Durban City have reportedly signed Ugandan goalkeeper Salim Magoola as a free agent following his departure from Richards Bay ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 31-year-old spent four seasons with the Natal Rich Boyz since joining the club from then Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies.

Magoola made 78 appearances for Richards Bay but only managed to feature in seven matches during the 2025/26 campaign, with Kenyan goalkeeper Ian Otieno preferred as the first-choice goalkeeper.

He becomes the eighth signing for coach Khalil Ben Youssef’s side after Kyle Jurgens, Tashreeq Morris, Seth Green, Liam April, Bandile Shandu, Goodman Mosele [loan], and Gaston Sirino.

The Ugandan international will be competing with Fredrick Asare, Ayanda Mtshali and Aden Dreyer for a starting berth at Durban City, with Darren Keet’s future still unclear despite him announcing his retirement at the end of last season.
