Leicester City are poised to appoint former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager.
The move comes after the sacking of Steve Cooper, whose short tenure yielded just four wins in 14 matches.
The Foxes, currently teetering above the relegation zone, have endured a dismal run of form, losing their last five games. Cooper’s departure follows a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Ben Dawson, Cooper’s assistant, has taken over as interim manager but is unlikely to lead the team in their next match against Brentford.
Van Nistelrooy, who recently served as interim manager at Manchester United, has experience guiding the Red Devils to victories over Leicester in both the Carabao Cup and Premier League.
His appointment is seen as a bid to stabilise Leicester ahead of crucial fixtures, including matches against Brentford, West Ham, Brighton, and Newcastle.
Leicester fans will hope Van Nistelrooy’s arrival sparks a turnaround in fortunes as the club seeks to avoid a repeat of their relegation struggles from last season.
