Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly leading the chase to sign Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after parting ways with RC Strasbourg.
The former Lille, Strasbourg, and Troyes frontman is back in South Africa as he plans the next step in his career.
He is, however, nursing a Patellar tendon rupture that could limit his options, with Kaizer Chiefs also said to be monitoring the player.
According to the Citizen: “Mothiba has already had engagements with Sundowns who are looking to snap up the Bafana Bafana international ahead of the season.”
Strasbourg president Marc Keller has, meanwhile, thanked Mothiba for his services.
He told his club’s website: “I would like to thank Lebo for the six seasons he spent with us.
“He is a very good striker who scored important goals. But he is also a man with an impeccable state of mind, who has always given everything for the club.
He never gave up, even after his major injuries.”
