Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat is refusing to get carried away after inspiring Amakhosi to a 3-1 victory over Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium.
The Zimbabwe international scored either side of the half-time break as Chiefs cruised to a comfortable win and in the process moving up to second place in the Premiership standings.
While there are certainly plenty of reasons for Chiefs to celebrate, Billiat insists the team will do so in “a professional way”.
“We are professional enough. We used to celebrate when we were young right? Now, we celebrate in a professional way,” Billiat told kaizerchiefs.com.
“We don’t need to be out there celebrating like the league is finished. We have to stay focused.”
And Billiat insists now is not the time to look at the league standings, saying the team “will stay focused and humble”.
“It’s not easy, but we are not looking at the table,” he continued.
“Right now, we want to focus on the things that the coaches want us to do and focus on getting the basics right, which will always help us get the good results and performances and then we will look at the table afterwards.
“We will stay focused and humble and we keep on working hard for the team.”
Next up for Amakhosi is a Premiership clash with 10th-placed Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
