Jose Riveiro full of praises as Orlando Pirates take top spot

Jose Riveiro was full of praise for his side as Orlando Pirates defeated SuperSport United 2-0 in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.

Evidence Makgopa opened the scoring at the Orlando Pirates after just two minutes.

Deon Hotto then added a second two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the game.

The result saw the Buccaneers claim top spot on the league standings with maximum points from four games.

Matsatsantsa ended the evening in 13th position with four points from five games.

Speaking after the match, a delighted Riveiro hailed his team and reserved special praise for Man-of-the-Match Deano van Rooyen for his performance in defence.

He said on SuperSport: “Physicality in this type of game is very important.

“For Man-of-the-Match, there could have been six or seven candidates, but I am happy with Deano and with the team in general.”

Riveiro was also impressed with 19-year-old Mohau Nkota, who was handed his first senior start.

“It is just the beginning. He needs to understand it is just one game,” explained the Bucs boss.

“He needs to work on a lot of things. But for 65 minutes he played with his own personality and that is what matters for me. He needs to work hard, in professional football nothing comes for free.”
