Portuguese coach Jose Gomes has reportedly informed Zamalek president Hussein Labib of his intention to step down as the head coach of the Egyptian giants.
According to journalist Amr Gaballah, Gomes plans to lead his final training session with the White Knights on Wednesday.
Despite efforts by the Zamalek board to convince him to stay, Gomes seems resolute in his decision.
The departure is believed to be linked to an offer Gomes has received from an undisclosed club, prompting him to request an amicable exit.
Gomes’ mid-season exit would represent a significant challenge for Zamalek, who currently sit second in the Egyptian Premier League and are actively competing in the African Confederation Cup.
Whether Zamalek’s management will successfully persuade the Portuguese tactician to reconsider remains uncertain, but his potential departure would disrupt the club’s efforts to maintain their competitive form in domestic and continental competitions.
