Hollywoodbets Super League Women: Gameweek 15 Preview

Tiisetso Makhubela and Koketso Tlailane

There’s a new name leading the race for the Golden Boot in the Hollywoodbets Super League with JVW FC captain Nompumelelo Nyandeni reaching 13 goals after scoring a brace against Ma-Indies Ladies.

This weekend’s action finds Nyandeni’s ‘Blue Diamonds’ taking on Golden Ladies, while Thunderbirds and UWC Ladies lock horns in the pick of the action.

TUT Ladies seem a banker against Siwele after ending UWC Ladies’ unbeaten record at home, whilst Ma-Indies Ladies and First Touch FC close out the round on Sunday.

After impressing in a 3-0 win over Tsunami Queens last Sunday, Coal City Wizards take on Richmond United. Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the action!

TUT Ladies 5/10
Draw 5/2
Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies 5/1
(15:00)
TUT Ladies return home to find themselves priced as heavy favourites to make light work of Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies after becoming the first team to leave the Western Cape with maximum points this season.

Koketso Tlailane scored her first goal of the season and Tiisetso Makhubela registered her seventh of the campaign to stun UWC Ladies in the first 20 minutes and held onto that two-goal cushion until the final whistle.

TUT Ladies have only been beaten on home soil by Mamelodi Sundowns and will be aiming to strengthen their second position on the log standings, while Masandawana are dominating at the CAF Women’s Champions League: COSAFA qualifiers in Durban.

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies had last week’s match with UJ Ladies suspended at half time due to the lack of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium with the scores locked at 0-0. I’m all over the home win, select TUT Ladies to win their 10th league game.

Tsunami Queens 13/10
Draw 2/1
UJ Ladies 1/1
(15:00)
Tsunami Queens play host to UJ Ladies at the Intabazwe Stadium in Harrismith hoping to turn their form around which saw them suffer their seventh straight defeat in the league, going down 3-0 to Coal City Wizards last Sunday.

In the reverse fixture at the Soweto Campus four months ago, we were treated to a five-goal thriller as UJ Ladies claimed a 3-2 victory over Tsunami Queens after going into the half time break with a 2-1 advantage.

UJ Ladies will be looking to claim a double over Tsunami Queens who’re placed second from bottom to end their seven-game winless streak.

It’s going to tough for the ‘Orange Army’ who are set to make a three-hour journey prior to kick-off but if I had to pick a winner, my money is on the visitors to leave Harrismith with three points in a cagey encounter.

Thunderbirds Ladies 24/10
Draw 21/10
UWC Ladies 1/1
(15:00)
Thunderbirds and UWC Ladies meet at the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London to contest the pick of the weekend’s action. Thunderbirds Ladies are in impressive form and continue growing from strength to strength, unbeaten in their last eight league games, keeping five clean sheets in the process, that’s seen them move into sixth on the log.

Noxolo Cesane’s solitary goal earned the visitors three points in the reverse fixture at the ‘Operation Room’ in Western Cape. Meanwhile, the prior meeting in 2019 resulted in both sides sharing the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate.

Leandra Smeda came off the bench for her first appearance since returning to the Mother City last time out. The Banyana Banyana international who made her 100th appearance for South Africa during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France will bring her experience and hard work to the forefront of coach Thinasonke Mbuli’s impressive outfit.

I have massive admiration for Thunderbirds, although, my money is on UWC Ladies edging out a 1-0 win in East London.

Richmond United 19/10
Draw 2/1
Coal City Wizards 13/10
(15:00)
Richmond United return home to the Merino Stadium in De Aar after a disappointing goalless draw against First Touch FC away at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane. The hosts are winless in their last six league games, conceding 16 goals in the same period, so the clean sheet could be viewed as somewhat of an improvement.

Coal City Wizards on the other hand, comfortably ran out 3-0 winners in Witbank against Tsunami Queens. The visitors will make the 870-km journey in high spirits, while Lungile Mthethwa will be aiming to add to last Sunday’s brace against one of the league’s leakiest defences.

I’m tipping the visitors to avenge their 3-2 defeat to Richmond United earlier this season, get on Coal City Wizards to claim victory!

Coal City Wizards Ladies

JVW FC 1/8
Draw 11/2
Golden Ladies 14/1
(15:00)
Golden Ladies will lock horns with JVW FC at the Tsakane Stadium with the ‘Blue Diamonds’ in red-hot form. Coach Ciara Picco’s charges have won four games on the trot, scoring 16 goals, while goalkeepers Yolula Tsawe and Kaylin Swart were only beaten once during a 5-1 thumping of Richmond United.

The ‘Blue Diamonds’ skipper Nompumelelo Nyandeni’s double against Ma-Indies Ladies allowed JVW FC to leapfrog UWC Ladies in the standings and now host the leagues’ bottom team Golden Ladies on home soil.

The visitors will face an uphill task, while trying to end their seven-match losing streak.

As the betting suggests, I can only see a convincing home win, there’s no Anytime Goalscorer betting available, if there was, Nyandeni to score would be a banker and as I said in last week’s preview Jade Leask would be worth a punt.

Sunday 5 September

Ma-Indies Ladies 4/1
Draw 24/10
First Touch FC 6/10
(15:00)
Ma-Indies Ladies haven’t had the easiest run of fixtures after resuming the league earlier this month. The Limpopo-based outfit drew home games against UWC Ladies (1-1) and Thunderbirds (1-1), before suffering defeats to Sundowns (3-0) and most recently found themselves on the losing end at the hands of JVW FC (2-0).

First Touch FC are unbeaten in seven league games but will be aiming to turn the draws into victories after sharing the spoils in three of their last four matches. The visitors have been impressive on their travels, winning five of their six games on the road.

Another tightly-fought contest is expected but I won’t sit on the fence and back the draw, select First Touch FC to edge out a 1-0 win in Giyani.

First Touch FC
