Bidvest Wits defender Thulani Hlatshwayo has opened up about the reason why he did not join Orlando Pirates during the last transfer window.
The Bafana Bafana captain was heavily linked with a move to the Buccaneers before the season but the move failed to materialise even though Hlatshwayo handed in a transfer request.
The 29-year-old has now said that Pirates never made a formal offer for his services to his current club.
Hlatshwayo told the Citizen: “They just spoke about it but they never made an offer or discussed it.
“They never came to the team to discuss it further.”
The Bafana captain has since signed a new contract at the Clever Boys, and said: “During this time I realised how much Wits wanted me to stay, they spoke to me about extending my contract and staying at the club.’
Wits are currently fifth in the PSL standings and have also progressed to the group stages of the Caf Confederation Cup.
