Race 1: RAND HEDGE(6)
Race 2: COSTA DA SOL(4)
Race 7: RAIN IN AFRICA(1)Race 8: CALABASH(1)
Race 1: MANOUCHE(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Dennis BOSCH
Just eight races on this all polytrack card with many wide open form contests featuring some useful types and the exotics could be the way to go. The formline of this opening event could certainly be worth following and Anton Marcus has secured the ride on the decent MANOUCHE from the Dennis Bosch camp. This chestnut colt has produced two smart sprints on this course to date and he looks set to relish this rise in distance. The manner in which he finishes his races suggest that he will be a huge factor over the seven furlongs. Moreover, he jumps from a handy draw.

Race 2: WHITE ROSE(12)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN
WHITE ROSE found some outside betting support when she ran on nicely for 3rd on her debut over seven furlongs on the grass track in late May. That was in a competitive field where her stablemate Oriental Oak (contested listed event last Saturday) emerged victorious and this daughter of Dynasty should have plenty more to offer. She is her yard’s only entrant on the day and she should stake a huge claim if handling this surface. Her good draw is always a plus.

Race 3: MAJIX(3)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Dennis DRIER
MAJIX was immediately rested after a disappointing last display over the mile on this course. He had smart prior form over shorter, including a career-best effort when staying on for 2nd over this c & d in his penultimate run. The Drier inmate races fresh and he should have a big say in this line-up.

Race 7: RAIN IN AFRICA(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK
The well-bred but extremely costly to follow RAIN IN AFRICA hasn’t lived up to expectations but she makes her local debut and is still the one to beat in an ordinary field. The Mike de Kock inmate has produced some decent performances and the minimum distance does seem to suit her best but the obvious concern will be how she handles this surface. That said, she has cracked the best draw and will be given every assistance from the saddle as top jockey Anton Marcus climbs aboard for the first time.

Race 8: SAMBORA(5)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
As was mentioned in the opening preview, this is yet another very competitive maiden contest to close the day’s proceedings and once again there could be some decent value. The first selection is the Duncan Howells trained chestnut gelding SAMBORA who is coming to hand recently. The son of Visionaire made eye-catching late progress over shorter in his penultimate run and he probably should have finished closer than 3rd over further on the grass a mere four days later. His jockey raced with a slipped saddle on the latter occasion. The deserved short break would have helped his cause and Muzi Yeni will be looking to make amends. This trip should be ideal and the three-year-old gelding has decent each way claims.
