Gavin Hunt motivates SuperSport United to reach 60 points this season

Gavin Hunt says he will “run down any street naked” if SuperSport United can “get 60 points” this season.

Matsatsantsa have started their current DStv Premiership season well with five wins from their opening eight league matches.

They have already accumulated 16 points to sit third on the standings, having reached 51 points from 30 games last term.

Speaking after his side’s 2-1 win over Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday where a Bradley Grobler (35′, 86′) brace cancelled out an opener from Therlo Moosa (5′), Hunt exclaimed he was delighted with the three points.

The SuperSport boss said in the Citizen: “I’m happy with the result, I said to the players before the game that you know what happens when teams change the manager. There’s always an upturn and it happens everywhere in the world.

“So it was dangerous to play here tonight and they went 1-0 up after five minutes which makes it difficult but we had a lot of opportunities. We changed a little bit of the way we played.”

Hunt added: “We have 16 points out of 8 games. If we get 60 points out of the 30 games I’ll run down any street naked. We are punching above our weight with what we got. We are struggling a little bit, It’s our 12th away game in a row (SuperSport have been playing their ‘home’ games in Polokwane), it’s unbelievable but it is what it is so it has been tough traveling.”
