Kaizer Chiefs secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Lamontville Golden Arrows in the first semi-final of the Home of Legends Cup.
The Soweto giants showcased their dominance, with goals from Mfundo ‘Obrigado’ Vilakazi and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo sealing the deal.
In the sixth minute, Reeve Frosler’s precise assist found Vilakazi, who made no mistake in converting the opportunity. Golden Arrows goalkeeper Nkosingiphile Gumede was kept busy throughout the first half, as Chiefs pressed for a second goal.
The second half began with both teams making substitutions, aiming to inject fresh energy into the game. However, it was Chiefs who struck again. Ngcobo, celebrating his 25th birthday, made an immediate impact, scoring the second goal just before the hour mark.
Despite the absence of key defenders Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Rushine Dortley, who are on international duty (with Botswana and Bafana Bafana respectively), Chiefs demonstrated their strength and depth.
With this victory, Amakhosi have booked their place in the final, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United.
The tournament, organized by the Nelson Mandela Bay Development Agency, offers a significant prize pool of R1.5 million.
