Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali has won his dispute with Chippa United over outstanding payments dating back to his time with the Eastern Cape club.
Jali, who retired from professional football after winning 49 caps for South Africa, took Chippa to the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) after the club allegedly failed to honour its financial obligations under his contract.
The former Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows midfielder joined Chippa during the 2024/25 season, with his contract expiring in June 2025.
According to Jali’s attorney, Thembelani Mpakati, several attempts were made to resolve the matter directly with the club before the legal route was pursued.
“Andile Jali had a contract with Chippa United which expired in June 2025. In terms of the contract, Chippa United was to pay a certain amount for the services,” Mpakati told KickOff.
“Upon expiry, Chippa United failed to pay what was due and payable to my client in terms of the contract, which constituted a breach of contract.
“After several attempts to approach the club that yielded no results, we were left with no choice but to institute a claim against Chippa United at the DRC in terms of the PSL Handbook.”
Mpakati subsequently confirmed on Radio2000 that the DRC had ruled in Jali’s favour.
He said Jali had at times received only partial salary payments during his spell at Chippa, with money still outstanding when he left the club.
The lawyer also revealed that the PSL had deducted the relevant amount from Chippa’s monthly grant and transferred it to the attorneys to facilitate payment to Jali.
w”We thank the PSL and the CEO for their swift response and resolution to this matter,” Mpakati said.
The ruling comes during another difficult period for Chippa, who have faced a number of financial disputes involving former employees.
The club were recently handed a three-window transfer ban by FIFA after failing to settle an outstanding obligation to former midfielder Roland Sanou by the deadline set by the world governing body.

Chippa have also previously been ordered to pay former coach Luc Eymael R250,000 after a dispute over a settlement following the termination of his contract during the 2025/26 season.
For Jali, Thursday’s DRC ruling ends his latest financial dispute following his departure from professional football.
