DSTV PREMIERSHIP PREVIEW: KAIZER CHIEFS GUNNING FOR MAXIMUM POINTS AWAY TO RICHARDS BAY

Kaizer Chiefs need all three points in their DStv Premiership clash with Richards Bay on Sunday to avoid dropping out of the top eight.

Amakhosi are on a four-match unbeaten run that includes three losses and one draw. They last recorded victory against Golden Arrows at the beginning of March to sit in eighth place on the standings with 30 points.

The Natal Rich Boyz are seven points and 13 points worse off in 15th place but recorded a morale-boosting victory over Moroka Swallows last weekend to end a run of six games without victory.

Neither side have any suspensions but Chiefs are set to be without the injured Keagan Dolly, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, George Matlou and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

Ahead of Sunday’s game at the King Zwelithini Stadium, Bay boss Vusumuzi Vilakazi said on the Hollywoodbets blog: “It’s not going to be an easy one obviously, considering the fact that they are coming from a loss (Kaizer Chiefs).

“So they will try and lift their game and try to redeem themselves but it’s going to be a serious battle for both teams.

“When you look at our situation right now, we don’t have a space for a draw or playing to lose a game.

“So, if we want to survive we have to dig deep and try by all means to get the three points against Kaizer Chiefs.

“And the boys are ready, they are fit and everyone is available it’s just a matter of selection as to who is going to be a person that is going to represent the club for us to get the three points that are needed.”

Chiefs attacker Ashely du Preez added in the Sowetan: “Knowing Richards Bay are not in a good position on the log, we are going to Durban to get maximum points and we haven’t won in a long time, so we as team we are looking forward to the game.

“We need to fight as a team to not concede and score goals and that’s the only way we can win the game.”
