Ajax Cape Town have confirmed that Roger De SA has stepped down from his role as head coach effective immediately following a poor string of results this season.
The Urban Warriors have failed to register a single victory in the Premiership, collecting just two points from their six games played thus far, and following the Cape-based outfit’s 2-1 loss against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday night, De SA decided to call time on his two-and-a-half-year tenure with the club.
“I would like to thank the management, technical team and the players for all their support during my two and a half years at the club,” he told the club’s website.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my job especially working with such a youthful squad.
“I personally think we are on the verge of winning ways but the results have not gone our way.
“I’d like to wish everyone, especially the fantastic supporters, all the success that this club deserves.”
The club’s CEO, Ari Efstathiou thanked the former Orlando Pirates mentor for his contribution to the club and took the time to highlight some of his successes.
“We are thankful to Roger for his contribution to the club and for the success he has brought to the club during his time here.
“He has been instrumental in implementing many new ideas while part of the Ajax Cape Town technical staff.
“Moreover, Roger successfully took us to two cup finals with the highlight being the MTN8 triumph last season winning it with a record 10 academy players in the starting line-up,” he concluded.
