Cavin Johnson hoping to unleash Ashley du Preez on Sekhukhune United

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson hopes Ashley du Preez will be fully fit to face Sekhukhune United this weekend.

The 26-year-old winger missed five successive DStv Premiership ties but made a return in the 1-0 defeat of Richards Bay last time out.

Du Preez was a second-half substitute in the tie and came through unscathed after 23 minutes on the pitch.

Keagan Dolly and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe remain sidelined while recent injury absentees include Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Zitha Kwinika and George Matlou.

Ahead of Saturday’s match, Johnson said on Goal: “We have Thatayaone Ditlhokwe who has just had an operation on his shoulder and he is out recovering.

“I think Keagan [Dolly] is almost; probably 99.9% ready to play. You see how I tried [Ashley du Preez] a little bit, just that we could see whether he has fully recovered.

“I haven’t spoken to [Du Preez] yet but it looks like he has come through. I think he came for 15 minutes [against Richards Bay] so hopefully he is okay for the next game.

“Zitha [Kwinika], the same day that [Sibongiseni Mthethwa] got injured, someone tripped his toe. He is alright, he is coming. How far the toe is? It is not a major thing but we took precautions with Zitha.

“[George] Matlou had a knee knock two weeks ago and has not recovered yet. So he is 50/50 but George will probably not make the next game.”
