Cape Town City Star Set for Exit

Cape Town City FC is bracing itself for life without star striker Khanyisa Mayo, with coach Eric Tinkler confirming the imminent departure of the 25-year-old.

Speaking at the MTN8 launch, Tinkler revealed,

Yes, the club will announce that shortly.”

Mayo’s absence from the team’s recent training session fueled speculation about his imminent departure.

Mayo, who has been linked with high-profile moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, is believed to be on the verge of a transfer to a North African club. The news comes as a significant blow to City, who have relied heavily on Mayo’s goal-scoring prowess over the past two seasons. The striker shared the Golden Boot award with Peter Shalulile in the 2022/23 campaign.

Despite the loss of their top scorer, City appears well-prepared for the new season, with a number of new signings already integrating into the squad.

The club has brought in Haashim Domingo, Fortune Makaringe, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Kayden Francis, Elson Sithole, and Carlinhos, while promising youngsters Gabi Amato and Emile Witbooi have shown potential in pre-season.
