Cape Town City Lands Former France Junior International

Cape Town City has strengthened its attacking options with the signing of Amadou Soukouna, a former France junior international.

The 32-year-old striker previously played for the now defunct Maritzburg United in the Premier Soccer League, scoring 11 goals in 35 appearances.

Soukouna is seen as a replacement for Khanyisa Mayo, the club’s all-time leading scorer who departed for Algerian side CR Belouizdad. His arrival has been delayed due to paperwork issues, including a visa overstay.

City coach Eric Tinkler hopes Soukouna can contribute to the team’s success, especially with their upcoming MTN8 semifinal against Orlando Pirates. However, it remains uncertain whether Soukouna will be eligible to play due to work permit requirements.

The signing of Soukouna is part of City’s significant recruitment drive, which has also seen the addition of several other players, including Kamohelo Mokotjo, Carlinhos, Hasheem Domingo, Kayden Francis, Fortune Makaringe, Prince Tjiueza, Elson Sithole, Sibusiso Ziba, and Lefa Aphane.
