Game On, powered by Hollywoodbets, will feature a groundbreaking interview with former Manchester United assistant coach Benni McCarthy.
This will be McCarthy’s first public discussion since his departure from Old Trafford in July 2023. The show airs this Saturday on SABC1 at 14:00.
The Manchester United Chapter:
McCarthy’s exit was part of a restructuring under new ownership, but his decision to leave was also driven by a personal ambition: to return to the dugout as a head coach.
The former Bafana Bafana striker had previously gained experience as an assistant coach at Sint-Truiden in Belgium and Cape Town City. However, the departure of McCarthy was also a strategic move to accommodate club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took over McCarthy’s previous position.
A Successful Stint at AmaZulu:
McCarthy’s coaching journey has been marked by significant achievements. At AmaZulu, he guided the team to a second-place finish in the Premier Soccer League, earning him the Coach of the Season award.
Looking Back and Looking Ahead:
In his interview with Sizwe Mabena, McCarthy will reflect on his early career, his memories with Bafana Bafana, and his experiences at Manchester United. He will also discuss his future plans and aspirations as a head coach.
