Richards Bay FC have confirmed that the Premier Soccer League has suspended fixtures at uMhlathuze Stadium for four weeks, creating immediate uncertainty over the club’s upcoming home matches and those of fellow tenants Milford FC.
The suspension takes effect on 13 August following an inspection carried out by PSL representatives last week, the club announced on Monday.
The decision comes less than 24 hours after Richards Bay began their 2026-27 Premiership season with a 2-1 defeat by Polokwane City at the same venue.
Last season uMhlathuze Stadium developed a reputation as one of the league’s most difficult grounds for visiting teams. Richards Bay collected valuable results there, with Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns all failing to leave with maximum points.

The PSL ruling now forces Richards Bay to find an alternative home venue for at least the next month, while newly promoted Milford FC may also have to relocate their fixtures.
In a statement, the club apologised to supporters and stressed that the matter was beyond its control.
“Richards Bay FC regrets to announce that the PSL has issued a ban on fixtures at the uMhlathuze Stadium for a four-week period starting on 13 August 2026,” the statement read. “A decision was taken last week after an inspection conducted by PSL representatives.”
Neither the league nor the club has disclosed the reasons for the temporary suspension, and it remains unclear whether remedial work will be required before the venue can host top-flight football again.
With the new season only just underway, the ruling presents an early logistical challenge for both Richards Bay and Milford as they await further communication from the PSL regarding their affected fixtures.
