Glody Lilepo has completed a move to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, ending a brief but memorable spell at Kaizer Chiefs that included a long-awaited trophy for the Soweto club.
The winger’s new club confirmed the transfer on Monday, while Lilepo simultaneously published an emotional farewell message to Chiefs supporters, management and teammates.
“It is with emotion that my journey with you comes to an end,” Lilepo wrote. “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to wear this iconic badge. It has been an honour.”
The Democratic Republic of Congo international joined Chiefs in January 2025 and scored 15 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions. During his time at Naturena, Chiefs ended a decade-long wait for silverware and secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup in consecutive seasons.

Lilepo paid particular tribute to the club’s supporters, thanking them for their “passion, support, positivity and kindness” and saying the atmosphere they created would stay with him for the rest of his life.
His departure comes amid wider squad changes at Chiefs. Centre-back Given Msimango also confirmed his exit on Monday and is expected to join Stellenbosch as part of the deal that brought winger Langelihle Phili to Amakhosi.
“Thank you, Kaizer Chiefs, for giving me memories that will last a lifetime,” Msimango wrote. “I leave with gratitude in my heart and wish the club nothing but success.”
Msimango joined Chiefs from TS Galaxy ahead of the 2023-24 season and made 53 appearances in all competitions.
The departures of Lilepo and Msimango underline the scale of the restructuring underway at Chiefs as they continue to reshape the squad for the new campaign.
