AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane believes the appointment of experienced analyst and tactical strategist Sinesipho Mali could play a significant role in helping the club build on its recent progress and challenge for major honours.

Mali joins Usuthu after gaining experience at both club and international level, most recently returning from the World Cup with Bafana Bafana. He also brings Africa Cup of Nations experience and a strong reputation within South African football for his analytical work.

“It’s quite important to have someone of his calibre,” Zwane said. “He’s very experienced and he’s going to add so much value. He has World Cup experience, AFCON experience and extensive experience in club competitions.”

Zwane said the appointment reflected AmaZulu’s ambition to continue the upward trajectory established over the past two seasons. The Durban side defended their KZN Premier’s Cup title and followed a near miss on goal difference two years ago with a fourth-place finish last season.

The coach credited the improvement to a collective effort across the club. “The players have responded positively to the demands and expectations,” he said. “I’m proud of them, the technical team, the president, the board, the CEO and everyone who has supported us through thick and thin. We are on a growth path.”

Mali’s arrival strengthens a settled backroom staff and adds another layer of expertise to Zwane’s coaching team. With the continued backing of club president and CEO Sandile Zungu, AmaZulu believe they are increasingly well placed to compete with the country’s leading clubs and turn steady progress into tangible success in the season ahead.
