Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signing of midfielder Thapelo Mokobodi from Stellenbosch FC as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Buccaneers and has already linked up with his new teammates as preparations for the new campaign gather pace.
In a statement released by the club following the announcement, Mokobodi expressed his excitement about joining the Buccaneers.
“I am pleased to be here and look forward to meeting the rest of the team,” he said.
“It’s a big opportunity to play for such a club and I am ready to get going. I would like to make a meaningful contribution to this great institution.”
Mokobodi has been handed the number 33 jersey and will be hoping to make an immediate impact in the famous black and white colours.

The midfielder becomes the latest addition to Orlando Pirates’ squad after the club recently secured the services of Norwegian striker Sebastian Pedersen from Norwegian outfit Sogndal Fotball. The Buccaneers have been active in the transfer market as they look to build on last season’s success and defend their Betway Premiership title.
Pirates will kick off their title defence against Milford at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, where they will be aiming to begin the new campaign with all three points.
