Amakhosi recently climbed as high as fourth, but have since stumbled with three straight league defeats to Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates and Richards Bay.

Next up is a home clash with an inform Durban City, who are currently occupying fourth place with 32 points from 20 games, two clear of Kaizer Chiefs in sixth, but who have two games in hand.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s encounter, Maboe explained that despite their run of poor form and current sombre mood at the club, the confidence remains high in the squad.

“As anyone would expect, the mood inside the camp is not very good because we’re obviously not getting the results that we want,” he said on IOL.

Maboe added: “We are very confident that we’ll definitely turn the corner in Sunday’s game.

“This past week gave us some time to really reflect, sit down and look at the things that we did right, that worked for us in the past.

“We’ve been hard at work. As players, we need to look at ourselves realistically. Professionalism and mentality are very important, especially in a big institution like this one.

“What I can say is that we’re all looking forward to the game on Sunday.”
