ON TARGET: Former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana Star 'Ecstatic' After Dramatic Winner

Former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster was bubbling with euphoria after his dramatic stoppage-time goal secured a vital 3-2 Premier League victory for Burnley away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Late Drama at Molineux

The victory was incredibly significant for the Clarets, marking their first away win of the season and allowing them to move a crucial five points clear of the relegation zone.

The match at Molineux was a rollercoaster of emotion. Burnley had surged to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to a brace from Zian Flemming.

That being said, Wolves staged a quick comeback, leveling the score at 2-2 before the halftime whistle. This required Scott Parker’s men to display a strong mentality in the second half to avoid dropping points.

Foster entered the fray as a substitute in the 76th minute, replacing Flemming, with the scores still locked. It took until the 90th minute plus five of added time for the breakthrough to arrive.

The twenty-five year old, demonstrating his predatory instinct, latched onto a well-weighted through ball from fellow substitute Hannibal Mejbri before producing a neat, decisive finish to snatch all three points for his side and send the travelling Burnley faithful into absolute raptures.

Foster’s Delight: “I’m Happy for the Team”

Speaking post-match, the South African international could not contain his joy, emphasizing the importance of the win for the whole squad.

“I feel amazing, ecstatic and more than anything, I’m happy for the team,” Foster said. “I think we deserved it, especially going two goals up and with the performance we showed.”

He acknowledged the element of fortune required to score such a crucial goal: “I was just blessed today to score the winner. It’s an amazing feeling and more than anything I’m just happy for the boys.”

Foster will now hope his late heroics are enough to earn him a starting berth in Burnley’s next major challenge: a home encounter against Premier League leaders Arsenal this weekend.
