Defender Taariq Fielies emerged as the hero, netting a late winner to secure all three points for Usuthu in the tightly contested KwaZulu-Natal showdown.

AmaZulu started brightly with Thabiso Kutumela testing Durban City goalkeeper Darren Keet in the 19th minute before Pule Ekstein was denied a goal six minutes later, thanks to an excellent one-on-one save.

After a goalless first half the Citizens took control of the match but failed to threaten the home side’s goal, with Taariq Fielies 87th minute header sealing the three points for Usuthu.

The result sees AmaZulu end a three-match winless streak to move into seventh position while City remain third.

Magesi vs TS Galaxy

Meanwhile, in Polokwane, Magesi FC pulled off an impressive 2-1 win over TS Galaxy at Seshego Stadium. The result handed Galaxy a disappointing defeat, while Magesi celebrated a hard-fought triumph on home soil.

The two teams provided a lacklustre encounter with few opportunities created in both halves, with the goalkeepers having very little work to do during the match until the final 30 minutes.

Dikwena then stole the show with two goals in the second half in response to the visitors’ goal to move up one spot into 13th position whilst The Rockets move to sixth following the 0-0 result.
