Nasreddine Nabi praises Kaizer Chiefs after hard-fought win against Golden Arrows

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi was delighted to guide his side to their fourth Betway Premiership win of the season away to Golden Arrows on Saturday.

New Amakhosi signing Flavio Silva scored the only goal of the game after 69 minutes, having come of the bench for his debut performance just ten minutes earlier.

Silva was brought on for Ashley Du Preez after 59 minutes, with the two teams stuck in a deadlock.

Chiefs have won all but one of their five league games this season, having come into this tie on the back of a goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The result left Chiefs on 13 points in second place on the league standings, level with leaders Sekhukhune United.

Speaking after the match, Nabi said on SuperSport: “I think the first half we didn’t create too many opportunities to score, we didn’t have chances to score.

“I observed that the mood was down in the dressing room, and I told them, not to worry, more focus, more demand. And I need them to improve, more passion and you will score.

“I think we started the second half bad in the first 10 minutes, because some players were very tired after the game against Sundowns and it’s normal.”

Nabi added that his substitutions changed the game, with Silva, Gaston Sirino and Mfundo Vilakazi all coming on after the break.

“The three substitutes gave the team more and remember before the game I said it’s a very difficult game.

“It was a very difficult game and I’m very happy for all the staff and I’m happy for the three points,” explained the Tunisian mentor.

Chiefs are next in action against table-toppers Sekhukhune United at home on Saturday, 16 September.
