OUT: Head Coach Departs Durban City FC as Contract Talks Collapse

Durban City FC has officially announced the departure of head coach Simo Dladla, effective immediately.

The decision comes after protracted negotiations for a contract extension failed to yield an agreement between the club and Dladla.

Dladla’s tenure, though relatively brief, was marked by significant success. He took the helm early in the 2024/25 season, stepping in for Zipho Dlangalala, and was instrumental in orchestrating the team’s triumphant return to the Betway Premiership.

Despite this remarkable on-field achievement, the club and Dladla ultimately couldn’t reconcile their differences regarding the terms of a new contract.

In an official statement, Durban City FC confirmed the breakdown in talks: “Following a series of discussions, the Club and Head Coach Simo Dladla have been unable to reach an agreement on a new contract of employment for the Betway Premiership Season.

As such, Coach Dladla will not be continuing in his role with the Club going forward. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for his professionalism and the significant impact he’s had on our recent successes.”

The Durban-based club, previously known as Maritzburg United, now faces the crucial task of finding a new head coach to lead them into the upcoming Betway Premiership season. The search for Dladla’s successor is expected to commence immediately, with further updates from the club anticipated in the coming weeks.
