Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa admits the pressure to win their eighth consecutive league title has been a heavy burden to bear.
Despite being just one win away from claiming the 2024/25 league title, and coming off the back of a comfortable 3-0 Betway Premiership victory over Chippa United, Lebusa explained that it hasn’t been an easy season.
Goals from Iqraam Rayners (29′), Jayden Adams (40′) and Thapelo Maseko (81′) secured the result against the Chilli Boys at Loftus as Lebusa was named Man of the Match.
The Brazilians are now 12 points clear of second-placed Orlando Pirates, who have just two games in hand.
Sundowns could be crowned champions if they beat Magesi on Sunday, but Lebusa feels it is getting harder to win games with every team they face.
He told SuperSport after Wednesday’s game: “It is very difficult.
“Getting closer to the business end of the season, you need to make sure you get maximum points … and keep the opponent away from the box. I think everyone put in a good shift and we are glad we got the three points.”
Lebusa added: “Even in the beginning it is difficult.
“We always try to measure ourselves against the previous season. It is a mental thing towards the end, fatigue also comes in. But we have been here before and we know what to do. So we keep on marching one game at a time.”
