Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has emphasized that the team doesn’t require any additional motivation for their upcoming match against Congo. A victory on Tuesday would secure their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
Bafana Bafana Eyes AFCON Qualification
Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana side is looking to extend their winning streak and secure a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a victory over Congo Brazzaville.
South Africa’s 5-0 win in the first leg was their biggest under Broos and brought their goal tally in the last three matches to a remarkable 10.
The return leg is expected to be a more competitive affair as Congo seeks to salvage their campaign. A win for Bafana could see them join Burkina Faso, Algeria, and Cameroon as confirmed participants in next year’s tournament in Morocco.
Players to watch
Iqraam Rayners looks set to start for Bafana ahead of the injured Lyle Foster in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.
Rayners came off the bench to score South Africa’s fifth goal of their 5-0 defeat of the Congo at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday.
They face the same opponents in Brazzaville with just the one change expected from Bafana boss Hugo Broos.
Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Foster and Rayners were all on target in a dominant display, and a win for South Africa in their next game would secure passage to the AFCON finals in Morocco next year.
How to watch
The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 and will be broadcast live on SABC 3 together with the public broadcaster’s streaming platform, SABC+. The match will also be available on commentary across various SABC radio stations.
Stadium
Bafana Bafana will take on Congo Brazzaville at the Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat de Brazzaville, a 30,000-capacity stadium that is one of the country’s main sporting venues.
The match will be played on artificial turf, a surface that has raised concerns for Bafana coach Hugo Broos. However, he remains confident that his team will adapt and perform well in the challenging conditions.

Congo 4/1 | Draw 22/10 | South Africa 7/10
Following their dominant 5 nil victory in the first leg, Bafana Bafana are widely expected to secure another win against Congo Brazzaville. Whilst Congo will have the advantage of playing at home, it’s hard to see anything other than a win for South Africa, considering AFCON qualification can be achieved on the night.
We tip South Africa to win & over 2.5 goals at 18/10.
