Thapelo James Morena (born 6 August 1993) is a South African professional soccer player who plays as a defender or midfielder for South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier Soccer League.
Morena began his professional football career with Bloemfontein Celtic. He signed for the Bloemfontein Celtic Youth Academy in 2011 and two years later the speedy defender was ready to make his Premier Soccer League debut in 2013 for the senior squad.
In the three years Morena played for Bloemfontein Celtic, he made 50 appearances and scored seven goals. His versatility and ability to make the game look so easy from a defending standpoint court the eye of Mamelodi Sundowns and “The Brazilians” did not waste time securing his signature in 2016.
At Mamelodi Sundowns, Morena has gone on to have a fruitful career both domestically and on the international level with Bafana Bafana.
