Liverpool Edge Past Bologna in Champions League Opener

Mohamed Salah‘s timely late intervention made sure of a victorious return of the Champions League to Anfield as Liverpool beat Bologna 2-0.

Alexis Mac Allister’s early goal gave Liverpool a dream start against debutants Bologna, but the Reds had to work hard to secure a 2 nil victory in their Champions League opener.

Mac Allister’s 11th-minute strike put Liverpool ahead, but Bologna proved to be a tough opponent. However, Mohamed Salah’s goal with 15 minutes remaining eased Liverpool’s nerves and sealed the win.

Salah’s goal was his 49th in the Champions League, extending his record as Liverpool’s top scorer in the competition. The Egyptian’s goal also marked a historic moment for new manager Arne Slot, who became the first Liverpool boss to win eight of his first nine matches in charge.

Liverpool dominated possession but faced challenges from Bologna’s high-pressing style. Alisson Becker made several crucial saves to keep Liverpool in the game, and the Reds’ defensive lapses almost led to conceding.

However, Liverpool’s quality shone through in the attacking third. Mac Allister’s goal was a result of excellent combination play with Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez. Salah’s goal was a testament to his individual brilliance, as he cut inside and fired past the goalkeeper.
