Motshwari: Ncikazi’s here to give us that thing we didn’t have

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi

Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari says Mandla Ncikazi is the perfect coach to help build confidence in the squad.

Bucs ended the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season in third place while winning the MTN8, and coming just as close to a league title the season before, having last claimed the South African top-flight in 2012.

Ncikazi led his Golden Arrows side to third place last term and has now joined the Buccaneers to add his expertise.

Motshwari said on Kick Off: “Coach Mandla is a great coach; we played against him last season. He brings that father figure to us as players. He has a great personality. He’s a very encouraging coach.

“Having a great technical team gives us that push and confidence. He’s gelling well here because he knows everyone. He’s just here to give us that thing we didn’t have…that confidence.”

Pirates’ first test of the new season is the annual Carling Black Label Cup this Saturday, against rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the Orlando Stadium.
