YANGA’S STEPHANE AZIZ KI SLAMS KAIZER CHIEFS MFUNDO VILAKAZI’S SHOWBOATING

Young Africans SC midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki has slammed Kaizer Chiefs’ young midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi for his showboating frolics while his team was losing citing that it is nonsensical and a waste of time.

This comes after the Tanzanian giants thrashed Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 in the Toyota Cup on Sunday 28 July at the Toyota Stadium, in Bloemfontein with Aziz Ki scoring a brace while other goals came from Prince Dube and Clement Mzize.

The 18-year-old starlet opted to please the fans who came out in their numbers to watch the game by flexing his skills instead of pushing forward and attacking as the Soweto giants were losing 2-0 in the first half. The 28-year-old midfielder had some strong words about Vilakazi’s actions.

“When you’re losing, and you come and do this, it’s nonsense, I was feeling sad when I see even the young players doing this. It’s not something nice.”

“I respect my job; football is my job. I love football. I like to learn. The football I see at a high level, you will never see Ronaldo or the top players do that. This is a waste of time,”

Aziz Ki criticised Vilakazi for showing off his fancy footwork while his team was trailing from behind stating that such action is detrimental to the game and that it is not something that should be prioritised in a high-level football match.

“You lose time, and you kill time because, in football, every single second is important. So when you take the ball and stop the ball and do that, you give five seconds to the opponent and everyone will come back. So you will not get the option. You didn’t create nothing. After the game when you finish to do these dances with the ball, if I ask you who won the game, what will you tell me? You danced with the ball? I can’t appreciate this kind of football,” said Aziz Ki while speaking to FARPost.

Chiefs are set to continue with their preseason preparations following a disastrous 2023-24 season which saw them finishing 10th on the log and their trophy drought continuing. They are set to kickstart their 2024-25 campaign against Marumo Gallants on 14 September.
