Golden Arrows interim co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi is eyeing a top-eight finish to a rocky 2022 DStv Premiership season.
Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza were handed the reins of the club following the sacking of Lehlohonolo Seema in April after a 6-0 thrashing by league champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
They have since guided the side to goalless draws with Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants as well as a victory over Kaizer Chiefs and loss to bottom-side Baroka.
They head into their last two games of the campaign at home to Royal AM this weekend and away to AmaZulu, currently in ninth place on the standings, just a point adrift of SuperSport United.
Vilakazi said on IOL: “There’s a very thin line between us and the top eight so we have to show that on the field because we need the points more than they do.
“Our game isn’t gonna be easy considering that we’re playing a derby. We played a draw in the first round so we know we’re in for a good game.
“They are a very quick side, they barrage the opposition with numbers whenever they attack and their transition is top notch as well.
“But we also have to look to exploit their weaknesses as well because they concede a lot of goals so we’ll use our strength on the transition to try and win the game.”
