Bayer Leverkusen are looking to bolster their squad as they prepare to defend their Bundesliga title with Girona’s Aleix Garcia one of their top targets.
Girona’s Aleix Garcia is one of their top targets. According to Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has been made for Bayer to sign the Spanish midfielder, who appeared in 40 games across all competitions last season.
Bayer Leverkusen will reportedly pay €18 million for Garcia, with significant influence from Xabi Alonso. Garcia will add depth to Leverkusen’s impressive midfield, which includes Granit Xhaka, Robert Andrich, and Exequiel Palacios.
While initial interest was shown in early May, Bayer’s efforts to secure Garcia have intensified in the past 24 hours through further negotiations.
Leverkusen views Garcia as a suitable alternative to Xhaka, thanks to his passing ability and press resistance. This strategic addition aims to reduce Xhaka’s game time, considering he played 50 matches last season.
