Copa America 2016 3rd-4th Place | Sunday 26 June | Stade Bollaert | 02:00

Copa America Centenario hosts USA will take on Colombia in the third-fourth place on Sunday morning.

The teams will meet for a second time after Colombia made a bright start to the competition with a 2-0 victory over USA in the opening match of the tournament.

To Win (90mins)

USA 19/10

Draw 47/20

Colombia 27/20

USA

After USA’s disappointing defeat to Colombia in the opening match, Jurgen Klinsmann’s men came back strong to dominate Costa Rica 4-0 and then edge Paraguay 1-0. The quarter-finals proved tougher though, but they managed to edge Ecuador 2-1.

There wasn’t much they could do in the semi-finals however, as Argentina ran riot, thumping USA 4-0. Not many expected USA to make it out of their group, let alone make it to the semi-finals. Finishing in third place would be a massive achievement no matter how disappointing getting dominated by Argentina was.

Clint Dempsey is their leading scorer in the competition with three goals to his game, and he will be eager to add to that. More so as to the fact that Colombia humiliated them in the group stage.

After conceding those four goals without conceding against Argentina, USA know they will need to show more organisation, determination, grit and quality if they are to achieve a third-place finish; their highest ever in the Copa America.

Colombia

Colombia may have started the Copa America Centenario like a house on fire with an impressive victory over USA, but since then, they have failed to impress.  Following their triumph over the hosts, Colombia then earned a narrow 2-1 victory over Paraguay, before suffering a 3-2 defeat against Costa Rica.

It mattered very little though, as they topped their group, which earned them a quarter-final encounter against Peru, whom they beat 4-2 on penalties. In the semi-finals they were exposed by an eager and determined Chile side which claimed a 2-0 victory.

Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez has been Colombia’s standout player with two goals, which shows that the Los Cafeteros’ results and form is based on their team performance. Players such as Juan Cuadrado and Carlos Bacca need to step up and show their quality to give Colombia that edge over their opponents.

Colombia have been in cruise control throughout the tournament and will need to change gears if they are to defeat USA in the illustrious plate final.

Betting Verdict: Draw (47/20)

Colombia have dominated recent meetings between the sides, but USA have an incredible fighting spirit with a passionate nation behind them. Changes are expected from both teams after their respective defeats against Argentina and Chile respectively. A tightly contested affair is predicted and the draw looks a likely result.
