UEFA Champions League: Round of 16: 2nd leg Preview

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrating another goal for Real Madrid at the Bernabeu

There’s some ties to look forward to, with Real Madrid travelling to PSG in the biggest blockbuster. It will be the end of the road for some of Europe’s biggest heavyweights, with either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid crashing out, while Juventus and Tottenham will learn their fate at Wembley. Elsewhere, it’s pretty straightforward with Manchester City and Liverpool hosting Basel and FC Porto, both with 4-0 and 5-0 leads respectively. Let’s get into the action!

Tuesday 6 March

Liverpool 5/10

Draw 33/10

FC Porto 52/10

(21:45)

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his Liverpool side don’t suffer from complacency when his Reds host FC Porto on Tuesday. Klopp’s men came out 5-0 victors in the first leg and will look to continue their impressive home record in the Champions League. Liverpool scored 12 goals in the group stages at Anfield, while the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will look to catch Cristiano Ronaldo up for the Golden Boot award. Porto were absolutely outclassed in the reverse fixture, and have failed to score in their last four trips to England. I doubt it will be another 5-0 win, but the Reds should claim another victory.

Paris Saint-Germain 17/20

Draw 31/10

Real Madrid 51/20

(21:45)

Paris Saint-Germain look to overturn their 3-1 deficit against Real Madrid in their second leg tie at the Parc des Princes. The Parisians might have to do it without star-player and world record-signing, Neymar. The club confirmed that the Brazilian suffered a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle during last Sunday’s game against Marseille. Cristiano Ronaldo’s double in the first leg will give him the much-needed confidence to find the back of the net again and help push his side to a third consecutive UEFA Champions League title. I do think it’s the end of the road for PSG here, and Los Blancos are a great bet at 4/10 to qualify – definitely the best bet to take here.

Wednesday 7 March

Tottenham 11/10

Draw 24/10

Juventus 47/20

(21:45)

Just when we thought it was all over for Tottenham Hotspur, Mauricio Pochettino’s men came from two goals down to draw 2-2, setting up an exciting second leg tie. The Old Lady already saw a glimpse of what Spurs are capable of, and they’ll need to be at their very best if they are to stop them from scoring. The hosts have won all three of their home games at Wembley in the Champions League so far, beating the likes of APOEL Nicosia, Borussia Dortmund and two-time consecutive winners, Real Madrid. On the other hand, Juve have only won once on their travels in the competition this season. Spurs are 7/20 to qualify, but I’m sure they can do it in 90 minutes – back them at 11/10!

Manchester City 1/7

Draw 13/2

FC Basel 16/1

(21:45)

It’s tough times ahead for FC Basel, who visit Manchester City, hoping to avoid another embarrassing scoreline. The Swiss giants were humiliated 4-0 at home in the reverse fixture, meaning the tie is all but over. Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten at home and still have their eyes set on a treble-winning campaign. After winning the English League Cup, and with the Premier League already wrapped up, it seems like it’s just the Champions League next for Guardiola. Back City on the (-1) Handicap here at 4/10.

QUAD @ 5/1

Liverpool Win 5/10

Real Madrid To Qualify 4/10

Tottenham Win 11/10

Man City (-1) Handicap 4/10
