UEFA Champions League Fixtures: Preview

It’s the return of Europe’s elite, who will take another step toward immortality? Who will take a further step away? It’s a permanent cauldron of excitement, heartache and passion – but it what we absolutely live for! It’s the UEFA Champions League!

54/10 Galatasaray | Draw 42/10 | Bayern Munich 9/20 (18:45)

I have no doubt that Bayern win this, they have been superb so far this season and are scoring for fun at the moment. Galatasaray aren’t necessarily a pushover, but I don’t think they are able to match their opponents here. It won’t earn me too many plaudits, but back the visitors here. If you are in need any anything further, add over 2.5 goals to the win.

3/10 Inter | Draw 46/10 | Salzburg 17/2 (18:45)

How good has Lautaro Martinez been for Inter? He has scored 12 goals in just 11 appearances for Inter and he’s certainly my pick to keep up that early momentum here. Inter have had their last four victories come on clean sheet and I’m not sure an inconsistent Salzburg changes that. Back the home win to nil.

29/10 Union Berlin | Draw 26/10 | Napoli 9/10 (21:00)

The hosts won’t be overtly keen for this one, especially since they are now without a win in eight games. I mean it really is unravelling for the hosts at an alarming rate. Napoli have all the positive data as well; they are competitive and scoring freely…they win this for me.

33/10 Sevilla | Draw 28/10 | Arsenal 8/10 (21:00)

I don’t think Arsenal have this all their own way, they were brought back down to earth by Chelsea at the weekend, and I think a repeat result might be waiting for them in the Champions League…it’s just all about which Sevilla side shows up.

The hosts are unbeaten at home in six outings, and whilst that does give me confidence, they can’t keep a clean sheet for jam. Back both teams scoring here.

38/10 Braga | Draw 24/10 | Real Madrid 23/10 (21:00)

The most successful side in the Champions League have opened their account with a perfect start. They outclassed Union Berlin and just seemed to take the game away from Napoli. I don’t think Braga beats them anywhere on the field – but both teams scoring might come into play. Braga will see this as a free hit and Real Madrid haven’t been as secure in the back, conceding in four of their last six games.

 14/10 Lens | Draw 26/10 | PSV 18/10 (21:00)

This is a tough game to call. Neither side have really hit their straps and neither give you the confidence to think they can go on and win. I can’t split them, and to be fair I don’t want to try. I think the answer is glaring at us, and it’s a draw.

12/10 Benfica | Draw 24/10 | Real Sociedad 23/10 (21:00)

Benfica will want to finally get points on the board here but given their struggles in front of goal so far this competition, I’m not sure that will be the case. Sociedad have really put in some positive performances during the domestic season and consolidated them in Europe. Mikel Oyarzabal has a new lease on life, and I think it’s the visitors who win this one.

7/20 Manchester United | Draw 42/10 | Copenhagen 7/1 (21:00)

United have yet to earn a point in this year’s competition, and in the process shipped a whopping seven goals! This is truly a make-or-break game for Erik ten Hag’s side and given they face City in the Manchester Derby on Sunday – they will want to earn themselves some confidence here.

Copenhagen have proved to be dangerous in front of goal, but I think United has too much going forward here. Back the home win.
