UEFA Champions League Fixtures: Matchday 2 Preview (Tuesday Edition)

We are now onto the next round of fixtures in the Champions League, Tuesday’s menu seems well balanced, a few delicacies for the football purists but also a crowd favourite! Your tastebuds will be truly engrossed, so please have a seat and do enjoy! Bon Appetit!

9/10 Union Berlin | Draw 26/10 | Braga 29/10 (18:45)

I really like the look of the away win here. Union Berlin are winless in five (in all competition) and I doubt they change that here. Braga are again, one of those sides happy to have a go and make it a gritty exchange – I think the impotence of playing at home goes against Berlin here – back the away win.

19/10 Salzburg | Draw 23/10 | Real Sociedad 15/10 (18:45)

Tricky little game this, Sociedad are on a really good run of form at the moment. They are playing with confidence and enjoy having their opponents come out and try to disrupt their shape. We saw that against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, and I think it will happen again here.

Back the away win.

7/10 Inter Milan | Draw 31/10 | Benfica 36/10 (21:00)

A repeat of last season’s quarter final sees Benfica travel once more to Milan. Benfica have shown they enjoy scoring goals, but I have reservations about their defensive stability.

Inter were too strong last season and I reckon they will be again. 7/10 needs no further invitation.

17/20 PSV | Draw 29/10 | Sevilla 29/10 (21:00)

PSV were dismantled at the hands of Arsenal last time out, the Dutch side lose 4-0 to Mikel Arteta’s men and they will surely be hoping to right those wrongs here. Sevilla have looked vulnerable at times but I am not sure I would bet against them.

Back both teams scoring here, but for the brave among us, punt the home win.

10/1 Copenhagen | Draw 58/10 | Bayern Munich 2/9 (21:00)

Of course, this is a game which Bayern Munich win rather convincingly. Please don’t get me wrong, I say this with the greatest amount of respect, but Copenhagen cannot stay alongside Bayern.

The one point I feel relevant enough to mention though, is Copenhagen have seen four of their last games go over 2.5 goals. Bayern probably takes that up a notch – so I’m on the over 3.5 goals market here!

9/20 Manchester United | Draw 39/10 | Galatasaray 6/1 (21:00)

I must say, I am rather surprised by the odds available on the United win. I know they are playing at home and enjoy a respectable form at Old Trafford, but they have some important players missing in defence and seem to be left exposed for pace and ability through the middle.

Galatasaray are a side happy to turn a game into an end-to-end expose – which I feel brings them into the contest if United allow it. I can’t back United at the moment, so I’ll go with over 2.5 goals at 5/10.

16/10 Napoli | Draw 26/10 | Real Madrid 31/20 (21:00)

It’s certainly one of the standout fixtures in the group stage, it’s the Italian champions hosting Real Madrid at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona! It’s going to be an enthralling and captivating exchange, but I think it will be a lot closer than many believe.

Neither side will want to lose, and I think that is my only concern. I’m on the draw here.

42/10 Lens | Draw 31/10 | Arsenal 13/20 (21:00)

It’s a massive week for Arsenal, isn’t it? They have a few injury concerns, but I think they still boast enough ability and depth to remain competitive here. Lens will be well organized and patient, so don’t expect a goal fest, but I think you have to back Arsenal to claim the win.
