Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is relishing making a return to regular first-team action as he works his way back to full fitness.

The 32-year-old missed the start of the campaign after undergoing knee surgery in the off-season, and is slowly being eased back into the first-team fold by Amakhosi head coach Steve Komphela.

He has featured as a substitute in a handful of fixtures thus far, but missed last Wednesday’s 2-0 triumph over Maritzburg United.

In a statement published on his personal website, the midfielder said: “I am enjoying my football again. No player wants to sit on the sidelines.

“It has been long so I am happy to be back. I am training my way back to my full fitness and once I reach that level I can resume helping the team who are now back to the winning attitude.”

Next up for Amakhosi is a clash with Ajax Cape Town at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 15 October, where they will be aiming to make it three wins on the bounce in the Premiership.
