TS Galaxy cruised into the Nedbank quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over ABC Motsepe Free State side D’General.
Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic gave debuts to Damukelo Kabini and Lebone Seema, while Samir Nurkovic and Puso Dithejane came back into the starting lineup.
The DStv Premiership had the first opportunity of the match when Mlungisi Mbunjana’s long-range scorcher grazed the top of the crossbar.
D’General were having to soak up plenty of pressure and survived an escape when Orebotse Mongae headed against the woodwork.
After surviving an intense spell of pressure General began to find their feet slowly and began making a few forays upfield.
Nurkovic repaid the faith shown in him by Ramovic by giving the Rockets the lead shortly after the half-hour mark when he headed home a precise cross from the right-hand side into the back of the net.
Ramovic’s side doubled their lead ten minutes later when Sphiwe Mahlangu pounced on a poor clearance before curling a sumptuous effort into the top corner.
The Galaxy mentor introduced Lehlohonolo Mojela and Mlungisi Zwane and Zwane made an immediate impact when he capitalised on another error from the minnows to complete a simple finish from close-range.
From then out it was a case of damage limitation for D’General as Galaxy progressed to the next round with ease.
